Leading remanufacturer and technical service provider, Carwood, has received the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award. The prestigious award underpins the company’s unwavering support of service personnel and their families, veterans and cadets, through force friendly employment opportunities, workplace policies, sponsorship and other initiatives.
Deputy Managing Director, Simon Quantrell accepted the award on behalf of the company. He said, “We are truly honoured to receive the Armed Forces Covenant Gold Award. Having supported the British Military for many years, and the covenant directly for over five, the Gold Award is the culmination of years of commitment. We are incredibly proud to have been recognised for this.”
In signing up to the Covenant in 2018, the company pledged to support those who serve, or have served, and their families with fairness and respect. As part of its promise, Carwood has adopted a number of force-friendly policies, including guaranteed first-round job interviews for veterans with the relevant skills, and additional training and support, if successful. It also offers paid leave for reservists to train, as well as support for mobilisation, if called upon.
Quantrell added. “We have, and will continue, to benefit first-hand from the raft of highly transferrable skills and qualities that ex-service personnel offer. They bring values that we look for in every one of our employees – resilience, commitment, respect and a great working attitude amongst them – in abundance. And whilst honed in more challenging conditions than a typical working day at Carwood, these skills have proven to make a real difference to our organisation. We like to think this is a win-win for both us, and the ex-service personnel that we employ.”
Elsewhere, the company continues to invest in the Armed Forces by backing a number of service charities including Team Forces and Mission Motorsport. Both causes provide sport, challenge and adventure to serving and ex personnel who have been injured or wounded in service, and further demonstrate Carwood’s commitment to helping those who serve their country.
