Sustainable And Affordable Battery Solutions

Just like any other, electric vehicle batteries loose capacity and efficiency – typically around 2-3% per year. Over time, this will affect the vehicle’s driving range, charging speed, and battery lifespan, eventually rendering the battery useless. Previously, the choice was either replace the complete unit – both costly and wasteful – or replace only worn or faulty modules, potentially compromising the battery’s performance and lifespan. But with Bosch’s high-voltage battery repair kit, we’re now able to restore batteries for popular Toyota and Lexus models back to their original spec. Whilst also saving valuable resources and cost.

Like-New Performance For LESS

As a trusted Tier 1 supplier, Bosch’s High Voltage Battery Repair Kit offers a proven, OEM-grade solution that restores the battery back to its original spec. Delivering like-new capacity, voltage and charging – sometimes better – at a fraction of the cost of new. And just to be sure, comes with a 5-year warranty for added peace of mind.

Complete Module Replacement

Because a battery is only as good as its weakest link, we replace all the modules. Each one is voltage and capacity matched, just like in a new battery pack, ensuring better capacity, faster charging and a longer battery life, with fewer customer comebacks.

Full v Partial Replacement

Replacing individual faulty modules may be quicker and cheaper short term. However, this requires specialist equipment to diagnose the faulty modules, and then balance them. If not performed correctly, the mix of old and new, can cause an imbalance in the batteries’ voltage, internal resistance and state of charge, leading to early failure and more costly repairs. To minimise the risk of any imbalance, we’ve adopted an all or nothing approach and replace all the modules.

A Sustainable Solution

By replacing only the battery module, and reusing all other wear-free components, such as the housing, blower and electronics, Bosch’s high voltage battery repair solution offers a cost-effective, and planet-friendly alternative that’s just as good as new.

Bosch Approved

As a Bosch HV battery repair centre, we have invested in the parts, tools and know-how to safely and quickly repair high-voltage batteries. Our trained technicians are EV level 4 certified and authorised by Bosch to install their high-voltage repair kits to exact manufacturer standards.

Either refer the vehicle, or if you are qualified to do so, remove the battery and send it to our Coventry workshop and we’ll take care of the rest. We offer a free collection and delivery service for the battery.

Note: technicians must be trained to EV level 4 to remove and refit a high-voltage battery.

Road-legal

The Bosch high-voltage repair kit meets OEM-equivalent safety, performance, and durability benchmarks, and has been approved by the UK Road Vehicles Regulation. This avoids the need for additional checks post repair, saving time and hassle.

FAQs

What does the error message "Maintenance of the cooling system of the hybrid battery required at your dealer" mean?

To ensure a long service life, the hybrid battery must be sufficiently cooled or heated depending on the situation. This is ensured by the thermal management system. If there is a defect in the cooling system, the correct operating temperature can no longer be ensured. This leads to accelerated ageing of the battery cells and the hybrid battery must be maintained. This means that all parts of the air duct must be checked for dirt and blockages.

The cause of higher fuel consumption or a drop in performance in a hybrid vehicle can be the low state of charge (SOC) of the battery and/or the battery capacity, which has decreased due to ageing effects. The battery discharges more quickly or can store less energy. The combustion engine is therefore switched on and consumes more fuel.

Qualified specialists can check the condition of the hybrid battery. If excessive ageing of the battery is diagnosed, replacing the battery modules with the Bosch high voltage battery repair kit is a cost-effective and sustainable solution.

If the hybrid battery warning light comes on, we recommend visiting a workshop to avoid battery failure and thus ensure the vehicle’s roadworthiness. A simple and sustainable solution for selected hybrid vehicles is to replace the battery modules with the Bosch high voltage battery repair kit. An expensive complete replacement of the entire battery is not necessary. You can find a qualified workshop near you here.

Error code P0A80 is displayed if the voltage differences between the battery modules within the hybrid battery are too high or too low. In most cases, the code means that the hybrid battery or the control unit must be replaced.

As the battery is an essential component of the drive system, the hybrid vehicle should be checked immediately by qualified specialists. If the battery is defective, we recommend the resource-saving solution from Bosch. This avoids replacing the complete battery.

Within a battery system, all battery modules are connected in series and the weakest module in the chain defines the overall performance. If only the defective modules are replaced, the battery is functional and the vehicle is roadworthy again, but the performance may still be affected by the weaker modules.

As the battery modules are subject to ageing effects, there is also a risk that the high voltage battery will fail again due to the modules not being replaced. Bosch recommends replacing all modules and offers the suitable solution with the repair kit.
