Discovering the opportunity in finance

For Kieranvir, the goal is clear: become a qualified chartered accountant. Having developed a passion for maths and ecommerce whilst at school, a career in finance felt like the perfect fit. So, when he discovered the ACCA apprenticeship opportunity at Carwood, the combination of hands‑on experience, structured learning and a convenient location made it an ideal opportunity.

“My goal is to become a chartered accountant, and this apprenticeship develops the knowledge and skill sets, which are needed to do that. When I saw the apprenticeship at Carwood, I knew it was a great opportunity.”

Developing professional skills

Despite being only six months into the programme, the pace of learning has been significant. Using Excel daily has strengthened his digital and analytical abilities, helping him understand advanced features that support accurate financial reporting. College training has introduced him to essential areas of the finance industry, including taxation, financial reporting and compliance, broadening his knowledge.

“My computer skills have improved, especially in Excel. I’ve also been exposed to a wide range of financial subjects through college.”

Learning through challenges

The ACCA apprenticeship includes quarterly exams, regular documentation of work and strict attention to detail; all valuable skills for any aspiring accountant. The learning curve has been steep but rewarding. In his day‑to‑day role, precision matters. He prepares daily financial reports for managers, ensuring key figures are correct and clearly presented.

“Having exams every quarter and documenting my work has taught me discipline and attention to detail. My reports need to be accurate, so detail is everything.”

Support that builds confidence

Both at college and at Carwood, support has been invaluable. Access to his tutor, the Company Accountant and the Finance Director has given him valuable insights and guidance as he progresses.

“I know I can go to the Company Accountant or Finance Director with any questions. Having access to their years of experience is invaluable.”

A strong foundation for a future in finance

Looking ahead, completing the apprenticeship will open doors to a wide range of career paths. With the right qualifications, practical experience and a supportive team behind him, Kieranvir is well on his way to achieving his ambition of becoming a fully qualified chartered accountant.
